Introducing Our New Lightweight Construction

As tailoring evolves, so does the way a jacket is built.

This season, SUITABLEE introduces a new lightweight construction designed for ease, fluidity, and balance. Not a replacement for traditional structure. Not a fully deconstructed alternative. But a new option that sits thoughtfully in between.

With warmer months approaching, we felt it was the right moment to expand what modern tailoring can feel like.

Understanding What’s Inside a Jacket

Most people focus on fabric, color, or lapels. But the true character of a suit lies beneath the surface, in its construction.

Traditionally, structured jackets rely on layered canvas and shoulder padding to create shape and posture. On the opposite end, fully deconstructed jackets remove much of that internal structure, resulting in a softer, more relaxed garment.

Our new lightweight construction introduces a different approach. It uses a thinner layer of canvas throughout the jacket, extending naturally up to the shoulders where it replaces traditional shoulder pads. Traditionally, shoulder pads were meant to emphasize the shoulders and create a larger, more imposing figure. This new option simply reduces bulk and allows the jacket to flow more naturally through the upper body.

Because a minimal layer of canvas is still present, the jacket maintains durability and resilience far more than a fully deconstructed alternative. It is also less prone to wrinkling, folding, or losing its shape, while remaining noticeably lighter in hand and on the body.

In many ways, it becomes a best-of-both-worlds solution: a lightweight equivalent of a classic structured jacket, built for those who want ease without giving up longevity and refinement!

How It Changes the Wearing Experience

To put it simply, the lighter canvas reduces overall weight and increases breathability. The shoulder feels more natural because the structure comes from within rather than from added padding. The jacket follows the body more freely, especially when sitting, walking, or traveling. The wearing experience feels less stiff and rigid than what is typically expected from a traditional suit, allowing for greater mobility without compromising the sharpness of a tailored jacket.

This construction is equally transformative in womenswear. Because women’s jackets are often cut closer to the body following more pronounced curves and tailored lines, traditional structure can sometimes introduce tension or friction in areas that require flexibility. By reducing internal bulk you get a jacket that preserves precision and shape, while adapting more comfortably to the natural movement and contours of the body.

When to Choose Lightweight Construction

For summer months or simply for those who prefer a lighter sensation, this option offers an alternative that feels more appropriate to the season. The reduced internal bulk allows for better airflow and helps regulate heat, which can make a noticeable difference for those who tend to perspire more. Over time, this improved breathability also means the jacket stays fresher between wears, naturally extending the interval between dry cleanings and allowing it to be worn more often.

Beyond climate, this construction responds to the realities of long days, travelling, extended meetings, or professional settings that demand professional attire while requiring mobility or prolonged seated positions that can challenge conventional structured tailoring.

The SUITABLEE Perspective

At SUITABLEE, innovation isn’t always about dramatic reinvention. Sometimes it’s about expanding the spectrum.

By introducing this lightweight construction, we’re adding nuance to the way a suit can be built. Clients can now choose between different internal architectures depending on preference, climate, and lifestyle. Not just fabric or style!

It’s simply another expression of modern tailoring.
